Blakesims Rottweilers & Pugs

Breeders of a quality dog not quantity dogs

About Us

We are Debi & Nev Blakeborough formerly of Garforth, West Yorkshire,UK and now Yundool, Victoria, Australia. We live with our dogs on a rural property surrounded by farming land where we own and run Abentoc Boarding & Cattery.

The love of the rottweiler began in the UK in the year 2000 were I met my husband who already owned a lovely rottweiler dog by the name of Bruno. Previous to this I owned a German Sheppard along with growing up on a station in Western Australia where I was raised with working Kelpies.

Our beloved Bruno was not a fancy dog but had a temperament that came second to none. Sadly we lost Bruno aged 4 years to cancer. We then went on and rescued a rottweiler male by the name of Sam, again not a show stopping dog but a much loved  family companion.

Then we were hooked. This lovely breed had won us over and we decided after much discussion to visit a reputable breeder in Hull, UK. They were Ian & Sue of Hardrada Rottweilers now located in New Zealand. We brought home with us the lovely Hardrada Back In Time (Rosie),  BUT lady luck was again not on our side and we had to lay to rest our sweet Rosie, aged just 14 months due to serious bone structure problems. Following the loss of Rosie we acquired again from Ian & Sue the exceptionally lovely Zeusion Goddess Clementia At Hardrada (Jazz) who with limited showing had much success in the ring in the Uk & Australia until Jazz had to be spayed to save her life.

We also purchased while residing in the Uk a super female Shoecottes White Lighting At Blakesims (Libby) who had also gone on to have a successful show career, another female Gouldryck Von Fratmay At Blakesims (Sky), who did not make it to the show ring due to developing too many disqualifying faults.

It was at this point we decided to look abroad and along come our first import a super lovely female (Blakesims Petra Von Gowenhauseimp USA) bred by Dale Gowen of Gowenhaus Rottweilers. Petra went on to have many in class wins in the Uk & Australia.

Then come along Curaca Sable King of Blakesims (Simba) at the young age of 7 months, a strong, confident but beautiful male who we trained to advanced obedience level. Simba was shown sparsley but with much success. It was when he reached the tender age of 15 months that we were approached and asked to sell the dog as his exceptional ability to work and remain calm and confident was much sort after for the police force. But to this day Simba is with us as I would not part with him.

It was in 2005 that Nev and I decided we needed more room and the only place to do this was an across the world move to Australia and in tow were 7 of our dogs, 4 adults and 3 puppies from one of our breedings. A very expensive venture but worth every penny.

Since arriving onto Australian shores Blakesims have experienced many ups and downs and through these we have learned valuable lessons in the world of dog owning, showing and breeding.
